The 2013 Silver Oak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a gorgeous and rich ruby red color with some blue highlights. This is a dense and structured wine that is entering adolescence with interesting but somewhat reticent aromas of black cherry, cassis, coffee bean, vanilla and loose pipe tobacco. Its entry is massive and wildly rich, smooth and creamy. There are baking spice and black pepper flavors throughout the mid-palate and while the structure is dense and tightly wound, there is excellent balance with no piece out of place. The finish is long and has fantastic length. This wine has a lot of potential. No sediment noted. As noted, this wine has shut down at the moment. I suspect it will open back up and be best from 2025 through 2042.
